In the 1941 classic film, The Maltese Falcon, our hero, Sam Spade, brings a package to a bus station baggage counter where he fills out a form and trades the package for a claim check. If that movie was made today, Sam would be able to stash the package in a locker at the bus station, without having to interact with another human. In the real world, the need for secure places to store packages for a limited amount of time has grown in direct proportion to the explosion of e-commerce.
